It’s nice to meet you!

I’m Alicia Topolnycky; an Intimacy Coordinator based in Austin, TX.

Much like fight directors and stunt coordinators, intimacy professionals are an essential part of the entertainment industry. My purpose is to comprehensively serve as an actor advocate, a mediator between production crew and cast, an intimacy/physicality coach, and a choreographer for intimate scenes.

I am also a certified Community Health Worker and CHW Instructor through the Texas DSHS, a certified mental-health first-aider, and a member of the Society of American Fight Directors, the Association of Theatre Movement Educators, and Women in Film & TV (Austin Chapter). I particularly enjoy working on projects which align with my queer and polyamorous identities, such as Three Headed Beast (Tribeca 2022, US Narrative Competition). Although I work globally, my home-studio in Austin is my favorite place to choreograph: a soft and comfortable sunroom strewn with antiques, blankets, and plants. I am an alumna of Emerson College.

Land Acknowledgement

I live and work on the ancestral land of the Coahuiltecan people, who were the original habitants of the area now known as Austin and Central Texas. Later, the Tonkawa, Comanche, and Lipan Apache were known for their habitation here. Colonialism is current and ongoing, and I strive to be mindful of my present participation.

Training / Certifications

Credit Where It’s Due

  • The bulk of my training has been under the faculty of Theatrical Intimacy Education, whose ideas and processes I utilize in my freelance practice and may summarize on this site. I highly recommend TIE’s workshops on any subject and believe them to be the best starting point for pursuing the career.

  • Some of my training has been under the faculty of Intimacy Directors and Coordinators, The Society of American Fight Directors, and the Association of Theatre Movement Educators whose ideas and processes I have incorporated into my freelance practice. I also incorporate facets of contact improv, authentic relating, sex therapy, meditation and consent education into my practice.

  • Thank you to my greater Intimacy Professional community, especially the members of the Intimacy Choreographers, Coordinators, and Educators Resource Group and Southwest Intimacy Professionals for their intellectual generosity.

  • Thank you to the artists whose tools, pedagogies, and ideas predate the coinage of “Intimacy Coordination” but who have inspired me and my mentors to continue this ever-changing work.

  • Website design by Kristen West of Studio Curious.

  • Website photography by Arlen J and Dani Hurtado.

  • If you would like to invest in my continuing education as an Intimacy Coordinator and help me afford access to trainings/certifications, or you would like to invest in my freelance business to help me take on more pro-bono projects, click here, with my gratitude.

  • Thank you with all my heart to Susan Flint for making an investment in my business!

  • Stills, trailers, and footage from projects are used here with permission from whom they belong and with permission from the actors who appear. Please do not share or distribute these materials. If you need to request a reel, please contact me.
